Sourdough Sandwich Bread

Sourdough Sandwich bread is a favorite around here. Light, fluffy and full of flavor you’ll never go back to store bought bread again! This recipe uses two different kinds of flour to help with the protein amounts and the fluffiness of the bread.

INGREDIENTS

340 grams Room Temp Water

120 grams Sourdough Starter (ACTIVE)

380 grams Bread Flour

200 grams All Purpose Flour

10 grams of Salt

DIRECTIONS

  • Combine water and sourdough starter together and let sit until the water becomes milky.

  • Combine flour and salt to your milky mixture. Mix all ingredients together until you have a sticky dough.

  • Cover your bowl with plastic wrap and set in a warm place for 6-8 hours, so the dough can double in size.

    TIP**You can place your bowl in the oven with the light on this will help your dough stay warm and rise quicker.

  • After your dough has doubled remove from your bowl and place on a lightly floured surface .

  • Once on your surface knead your dough into an oblong shape and place in an oblong proofing basket and letproof for 40 minutes.

  • Preheat your oven to 475*F

  • Place your oblong dough into your pan or onto a large pizza stone and cook for 40 minutes and then an additional 10-15 to brown.

TIP** if your using a pizza stone or open bread loaf pan make sure to place a cookie sheet on the rack under the dough and fill with water. This will create steam inside your oven allowing for a better oven spring in your loaf.
